Pricing:
Estimates in person are only good for 90 days. the pricing of a job viva the telephone is only a "ball park " price. Prices can range a good bit from mild to wild interiors based on labor and cost of materials. Anything you add to the job will take more materials and labor. Most interiors take 3-6 weeks. Every interior job is different even if they're the same body style of automobile. The will be different inside because of the way they have been set up (wiring, a/c, seat, console, radios and so on....) When you call, it's best to have in mind the style of interior that you are looking for ( colors, textures, prints, ) this way we can do the best job to give you a "ball park" price for the job. Tips on getting your automobile Ready for Upholstery
What to keep in mind- Some extra things you may not have thought of:
Wiring:
your wiring should be completed when you bring your car to our shop. Always have your fuse box mounted. If your wiring is a mess we can add it but it will ad to your interior price. Things to keep in mind are door locks, door poppers, power locks, power windows, wipers, a/c , heater, radio, speakers, cd changer, amp, third brake light, dome lights, courtesy lights, and any stuff that will be placed in console. Make sure there is a little bit of play wiring the wires. The wires should have enough slack under the dash ( you can use a ruler or stick to check this) If you can run wires overhead it will make your floor a lot cleaner and easier to work. If you plan on putting a console in the care you can run your wires down the middle of the car. Make everything neat, and tie up with plastic ties. "Keep slack and Make Neat". It's a good idea to have a battery cut off an remote battery post under the car for easy charging. If you have shaved door handles have a hidden switch or some other way to get in the car so if something's happens.
Window and garnish moldings:
All side and quarter window need to be in and working. Power windows and door locks purchased, installed, wired and working. All window felting should be in place. Have all window garnish moldings fittings the windows and painted. If you plan to paint moldings the same color of the leather or cloth, let us know. Installing and purchasing of window felts etc..
If you need this kind of work done - we can do it , just let us know - it does add to the cost of your interior.
Heat Shield and Sound Deadeners
It is always a good idea to use insulations in your car or truck. Floor and firewall and trunk should be sealed. We can also , do the inside of your doors. It also cuts down on music vibrations. We carry Dynomat . It is often an overlooked item that really is an asset no noise and heat reduction.
Radios, amplifiers, alarms, remote starts etc..................
Radio: If your radio is in your dash have it wired and working. Is all the wiring ran for amplifiers and disc changers- also make sure if these are installed in your vehicle that sound deadening insulation is applied. We do not install radios, etc... so these things should be installed first so no to damage any panels or carpet we install . Especially if it is a color change .
Running Boards:
Some older cars have Running Boards. It's best if you have the running boards off your car so they will not get scratched. We cover and tape the boards up but they still can be scratched.
Trunk:
Have your trunk working. Are we going to also finish your trunk? do you need should deadening ? Another overlooked area
Additional Items you may want to add:
Please look over our website to get ideas on how you want your interior or products you wish to add- seat heaters, steering wheels, woodgrain? Colors Textures - " Seat Heaters"
Weather Stripping:
This is an added expense but one that can make a night and day difference on your vehicle. We can order most weather stripping and install . This is an expensive item but can add value to your vehicle.
GAS, Oil, Antifreeze Leaks:
Gas tank and filler neck needs to be sealed to prevented form leaking fumes in the shop. Have as little gas in your car as you can. Most of eh time a 1/4 tank or less is fine. A full car or truck of gas can smell up a shop. Please try to have all oil leaks, antifreeze leaks and other fluid leaks stopped before you take it out our shop. If you can not do so please inform us about the leaks. We do have a Pet Mascot and these fluids are toxic to her.
Brakes & Wheels:
Have your brakes in good working order. This seams like a no brainier - but we have a lot of vehicle come
in with hardly any brakes or no brakes at all.
Please make your your car RUNS. - We can not push your car around and in and out.
If this is not possible - please let us know ahead of time so as we can make arrangements for your
vehicle.
Deadlines:
It's best not to push a custom interior to make a deadline for a car show. Things turn out better when time is taken with the design of an interior. Please do not bring your vehicle in on a Wednesday and expect it back by the weekend. Custom interiors take time and I would like to take our time on them. Cause with any custom work - sometimes things need to be redone or rethought out - that's why its custom.
